Notes & Quotes from Never Eat Alone

The achievement of some goals can feel as disappointing as failure.

Dr. David McClellan of Harvard University researched the qualities and characteristics of high achievers in our society. What he found was that your choice of a reference group, the people you hang out with, was an important factor in determining your future success or failure. In other words, if you hang with connected people, you're connected. If you hang with successful people, you're more likely to become successful yourself.

In the end, we all live one life. And that life is all about the people we live it with.

--Keith Ferrazzi

We human beings are social beings. We come into the world as the result of others' actions. We survive here in dependence on others. Whether we like it or not, there is hardly a moment of our lives when we do not benefit from others' activities. For this reason, it is hardly surprising that most of our happiness arises in the context of our relationships with others.
